I’ve always appreciated the idea that a person can be interested in too many things. This will probably be my personal home for that.
I’ll write about things I’m building, things I’m learning, people I meet, mistakes I make, ideas I can’t stop thinking about, and observations that probably should have stayed in my Notes app.
Some of it may be about business. Some of it may be about art, cities, psychology, ambition, money, technology, relationships, history, or certain moments that managed to stick with me long after they should have disappeared.
I don’t really have some sort of grand thesis or plan for this blog. I’ve come to believe that writing is one of the purest forms of thinking. It forces you to take something vague and abstract, and makes you give it shape. You find out pretty quickly which ideas you actually understand, which ones you only thought you understood, and which ones change the moment you try to put them into words.
I've also noticed that life has a strange way of making sense only in retrospect.
We go through our days collecting experiences without knowing which ones will matter. In my case, conversations have become inflection points. I've experienced failures that only became useful five years later. I've met people for twenty minutes that have changed the way I think about something forever.
This is a place for me to note those things. This is where I’ll share personal thoughts, stories, musings, observations, and lessons, including the ones I’m still trying to understand myself.
Part of me also likes the idea that, perhaps many years from now, my future kids might read this and get to know a version of me they never got to meet. And when I’m no longer on this earth, maybe these posts will preserve a little bit of how I viewed the world and the things I've experienced.
Consider this less of a publication and more of an open notebook.
Welcome.
